“Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up.” — Batman Begins
I let my online lab fall into disuse. The servers gathered dust. The VMs knew peace. The monitoring dashboards stopped asking questions. But every Batman has his comeback arc. I’ll be getting the lab back up and running soon. Apologies to the infrastructure for the extended vacation. 🫡 — The rehabilitation of the lab begins shortly.

RAG: Turns Out It’s Cleverer Than I Thought
Let’s see if I can actually build a decent RAG agent instead of just throwing a vector database at an LLM and calling it “AI.” 😂 The goal here is to take a real dataset, figure out how to properly ingest and chunk the information, generate useful embeddings, retrieve the right context, and then have the model actually do something intelligent with it. More importantly, I want to understand what makes a RAG system good rather than just making one that technically works. So this is basically me poking RAG with a stick until I understand: what to chunk and what not to chunk how retrieval actually affects the final answer how much context is too much context where hallucinations sneak in whether reranking actually makes a difference and how to turn the whole thing into something that feels like a proper production system Worst case: I learn a bunch. Best case: I accidentally build something useful. Either way, the vector database is going to know more about my dataset than I do. 🫡

Bedrock, Lambda, EventBridge, SES and Whatever Else AWS Threw at Me — Surprisingly, It All Just Works.
The real challenge was figuring out how to use AI securely through AWS to turn our company data into something genuinely useful: uncovering trends, identifying patterns, and, most importantly, understanding where our real business problems actually lie. Fortunately, our data was primarily textual, which made it a really interesting problem to tackle. We experimented with breaking the analysis down into multiple steps rather than throwing everything at an AI model at once. Making sure each stage had the right context and produced the right output was honestly one of the most fun parts of the whole process. It was a pretty cool mix of AI, data, security, and a little bit of engineering creativity.

Launched My Online Lab
Finally built the website and hosted it to my domain. Posting this on LinkedIn as well. (I am so stoked, yayyy!)

Hmm, I wanted to have my own portfolio site for so long
So guess what? I finally decided to build one
